I think I can honestly say without a doubt, I am addicted to food. My cravings and desire to eat unhealthy food is just something I have not ever been able to take control over. At 38 years old, I’m in fairly good shape and I’m not really overweight, but I do have high cholesterol. The reason I even bring that up is because I was recently having a conversation with my doctor. She told me there is a very simple solution to my cholesterol problem. She said I have to change my diet. She told me what to eat more of and what not to eat anymore. Being the realist that I am, I basically told her it wasn’t going to happen. I know myself too well and my addiction to pizza, subs, tacos, and a nightly bowl of cereal before bed has the best of me and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
I have gone through periods of time where I have changed my diet. It usually lasts about a week and once I fall off the wagon, I fall hard. It is no different than any other addiction out there. I try to make up for this with exercise. Like I said, I am not really overweight or anything, but I do have a slightly bigger stomach than I would like. I am actually about 20 lbs heavier than I have been in the past. Ive never had a six pack before and honestly don’t know if it is even possible for me. Well it’s about time to find out.
I decided last week I am going to take a stand. I am going to change how and what I eat. I am going to lose 20 pounds and I am going to get this cholesterol thing under control. So how am I going to do it? I am going to lose weight by doing the Advocare 24 day challenge. Advocare is a health and wellness company that has helped millions of people lose weight. Here is my plan. I am going to do the challenge and use that as the start of a lifestyle change. It will sort of be a kick start. I am well aware that I could lose 10-15 pounds, go back to my old lifestyle, and end up right back where I am at. Trust me, I have done that a bunch of times.
Advocare also has a business opportunity tied to. As an Advocare distributor you can help promote all of the Advocare products, including the 24day challenge kit, and earn commissions for your efforts. This is an MLM opportunity so you can also build a team of distributors and earn commissions off of their efforts as well.
I will be receiving my challenge kit in the next few days and will begin the challenge immediately. Maybe I will share my results and do a follow up post after I am done with the challenge. If you have done the Advocare challenge, leave a comment below and let us know what kind of results you had.
You ever wonder what this Empower Network buzz is all about? Who knows, maybe you’ve never heard of it. If you are online and have your hand in network marketing or affiliate marketing you probably hear about them on a daily basis. Why? There are a couple reasons. The company is a crossbreed between network marketing and affiliate marketing. They sell a viral blogging system and online marketing information products. So they are basically teaching hundreds of thousands of people how to market on the internet. People purchase their products for 2 reasons. They either use the information to market their own products or services, or they use it to resell the Empower Network products. So we basically have over 100,000 people out there selling the crap out of the Empower Network name. Every time a sale is made, we add another person to the huge pool of Empower Network peddlers. I would say this is the main reason for all the buzz, but it’s not the whole story.
Another reason is the rapid growth that the company has experienced in it’s first 2 years of being in existence. They say they have broken all of the records within the mlm industry. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is true, although who knows. So why are they growing so fast? My guess is it has something to do with the massive amounts of money that the company’s top earners are making. Their top-10 earners are all earning over $100,000 per month. Here is how they are doing it. Empower Network has a very unique compensation plan. They pay their affiliates 100% commissions on most of their products. You’re probably wondering how. Remember they sell info products. Other than the initial production costs, their costs are minimal. In addition to paying 100% commissions, they sell high ticket items. If you purchase the entire product set, you are looking at over $5,000. After fees are taken out, the affiliate is bringing home over $4,500. In my opinion that is where all the buzz is coming from. Think about that. You get one sale and you earn $4,500. Compare that to the $15 that some of us make when we sell a $97 auto-ship. It’s almost laughable when you think about how many customers you would have to serve at $15 to earn what an Empower Network affiliate earns from one customer.
Some companies create buzz just by selling great products, while other companies create buzz just to create it. Empower Network does both. Their products are literally changing people’s lives, but part of the reason for the exponential growth is the buzz created by the Empower Network founders David Sharpe and David Wood. They both have a rags to riches story that is pretty remarkable, but these guys thrive on their controversial ways of being. You could say they are a little edgy. You will never see David Wood wearing anything other than a tank top with shorts and flip flops, and make sure you don’t bring your kids to any live events. Heck don’t even have them around when you are listening to their audios. They are definitely not G-rated. I bring all this up because their ways of operating are unconventional, but they attract a lot of attention, which creates buzz, which drives sales. It’s an interesting way of doing things, but it sure seems to be working out.
I picked up a trick the other day. Actually I sort of knew about this for a long time now. I’ve seen it done many times, but I actually dug into the concept the other day to see how well it really works. Have you ever seen how people capitalize on search engine traffic by using the word scam? Here’s what I mean. Let’s say you are in an MLM and the name of it is XYZ company. We all know that the MLM industry doesn’t necessarily have the best reputation. Is the MLM industry legit? Of course. Are there scams out there that are tied to the MLM industry? It certainly happens from time to time. Just as a side note, what really sucks about the negative reputation is that a lot of it is unwarranted. Some people get involved in MLMs expecting to pay a fee, make a few calls, and start cashing paychecks. When it doesn’t happen that way, they call scam and worse yet report it to the better business bureau or go around the internet warning people of the supposed scam. It really sucks and it’s pretty cowardly if you ask me, but unfortunately that’s the way it is. Back to my point.
Because people are skeptical of MLMs, it’s a pretty common practice to do some internet research on a company before they join. They might do a search on the company name, they may search XYZ company review, or they may search XYZ company scam or is XYZ company a scam. Here is how marketers are capitalizing on this. There are two ways, and they are completely opposite. Someone from XYZ company might try to rank their site for the term “is XYZ company a scam”. On their site or blog post they will attempt to dispel the idea that their company is a scam. Their hope is that when their visitor reads this they gain confidence in the company, but more importantly they gain confidence in the site owner as a leader who is worth joining. Here is an example of how this is done. The owner of this site is an affiliate for Empower Network. They rank in Google for the term is Empower Network a scam. When the visitor lands on their site, the owner puts his best effort into proving that it isn’t a scam. In his post, he has links to other posts that talk about things such as the compensation plan, product reviews, and sells himself as a leader worth joining.
Another strategy (and I think this one is a bit scummy) is for someone from XYZ company to rank for “is ABC company a scam”. Their intention to show the visitor that ABC company is a scam (even if it isn’t) and that XYZ company is the perfect alternative. Again, I hate this strategy, but it works. As online marketers, we have to think outside of the box and come up with creative ways to get our message in front of buyers. Check out this site for more creative online marketing strategies.
I’ve been in the home-based business industry for close to 10 years now, but I’ve actually only been online for the past 3 years. Of course I was online, but I didn’t run my businesses online until recently. I used to do things the old school way. You know, calling Grandma and every other relative I have, meeting at coffee shops and drawing circles on napkins, and cold calling cold-market leads. You probably know the drill. It sucked, but at the time I didn’t know it sucked as bad as I do now that I found a better way.
I happened to be involved in a couple of companies right now that are strictly internet based companies. We sell internet marketing training programs. I guess you could sell this stuff offline, but I think that would be pretty silly. So the question you might be asking is, how does the internet make business easier? First of all, don’t get me wrong. Im not saying this is easy. I work my butt off. Any business requires hard work, determination, and a no quit attitude. Im just saying life is much easier now than it was back in my offline days.
So you’re probably wondering what’s easier about it. Prospecting. Rather than physically talking to every prospect like I used to do and weeding through a whole bunch of people who weren’t worth my time in order to find a few that were, I let the internet do the weeding out process for me. I have a simple system set up that I use to drive traffic to high converting lead capture pages where I capture my prospects information, I follow up with them providing value, and if they are interested they either buy from me or they contact me for more information. So basically the only people I talk to over the phone are people who have already purchased from me or people who are interested in purchasing from me. I rarely have to overcome objections. I never feel like Im getting beat up on the phone like I used to sometimes feel, and most importantly, I spend so much less time on the phone. This gives me more free time to do what I want to do in life.
If you currently own a home-based business and the thought of only picking up the phone when someone actually wants to talk to you sounds appealing, you basically have two options. You can either adopt the online formula that I am using and use it to market your current product, or you can join an opportunity like mine where this is the only strategy we use and the only strategy we teach. Take a look at this site. This is an Empower Network reviews site. This is a perfect example of an MLM that uses the strategies I shared with you today. If you are thinking about adopting this strategy and using it to market your current product, make sure you have permission from your company to use their trade name on the internet. Some companies do not allow their distributors to market online.
Do you want to know who the top MLM companies are? I’ll give you a little bit of insight on that in a second, but I’m going to ask you, does it really matter? What makes one MLM company better than the next? Is there really such thing as the best MLM opportunity? I guess it depends on what you’re looking for in an MLM. Maybe you value stability and longevity. We all know that MLM’s come and go. I think I heard that the average lifespan of an MLM is something like 2 years. In my opinion, stability is pretty darn important. I was part of a company one time that went under. I had built a team of over 500 people in a time span of about 4 months. I was doing very well, and I had some team members that were also doing well. Things were going great until everything got turned upside down when the company announced they were shutting down. Of course it didn’t take me long to latch on to another opportunity. I was one of the lucky ones that was able to bring all of my active partners over to the new company without a lot of resistance, but I am well aware that this is not always the case. Many people who experience a company shutdown give up on their dream. Avoiding this and choosing a company that has stability is probably a pretty smart play.
What else makes one MLM company better than the next? The ability to earn a lot of money is certainly important to most of us. Most of us look at the compensation plan as an important aspect. How about products? Personally I think this is the biggest factor. I always ask this question. Would I buy this product from a store? Meaning would I buy this product if I weren’t earning money selling it? If the answer is yes, you probably have a pretty good product on your hands. These are some of the main things people consider when they are comparing one MLM company to another.
Here is my take on the whole issue. Who cares which company is the best company? If you have what it takes to make it in this industry, you will make it happen no matter what company you are with. It’s that simple. Do some companies provide better tools or better training? Of course, but successful leaders don’t depend on tools or training. They depend on their own abilities. They don’t look outside of themselves for anything. That is just my take on this.
If you aren’t currently in an MLM opportunity but you are looking for one, here is a Top MLM Company review. Even though I wouldn’t put a lot of stock in a list of top companies, this might be a really good place to start your search. Certainly companies on this list have something going for them. Check out the rest of this site too. There are a ton of really good resources for beginning or even advanced marketers.
